Another protest in DougCo happens this Tuesday, January 5th outside the district office Wilcox building from 4pm-7pm.
The protest is aimed at reopening schools in Douglas County for middle schoolers up to high school kids.
Elementary schools kids in Douglas County return to school January 5th, but the district was considering an online or hybrid model for older kids. However, Superintendent Corey Wise maintains the case rate for the virus is lower than anticipated.
Curiously, organizers of the outdoor protest instructed attendees to bring masks, which is contradictory to the belief held by those who want schools back in session, that “the virus” is a threat and thwarted by masks.
The school board will meet January 5th, the day of the protest, to discuss plans for the second semester.
