Douglas Co reopen protest Saturday

At least two protests are planned in Castle Rock this week. The first is Saturday January 2nd, which is a protest in downtown Castle Rock aimed at reopening closed businesses. That is on Facebook.

Gary Godfrey is hosting the re-open event through his group “We are Castle Rock,” which has previously hosted two rallies. The last rally made local news, and Godfrey hopes this one will be even larger.

The details for the January 2nd protest state:

“Purpose: To say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH with these shutdowns and OPEN CASTLE ROCK NOW!! We want our restaurants, our churches and our schools OPEN! There is no reason malls and big box stores can be packed for non-essential shopping, but our local businesses/restaurants can not fully operate. Agenda: Meet at the Old Douglas County Courthouse (downtown) and stage our “Rally”. By 12:30-12:45 we may begin a March or will stay lined up on Sidewalk in front of building. We are organized anarchists. When you arrive you may begin your protesting. As the crowd grows help each other join in. I (Gary) will communicate as needed! Instead of gathering in the old courthouse lawn we will gather on the sidewalk in front and extend in both directions. We want enough people to cover the sidewalks on both sides of the street! This is a “We Are Castle Rock” Rally – We will chant as we March, “WE ARE CASTLE ROCK! NO MORE SHUTDOWNS! NO MORE RESTRICTIONS! WE WILL NOT COMPLY! OPEN CASTLE ROCK NOW!”

When: Saturday January 2nd, Noon – 2 PM

Where: Douglas County Building (Downtown)

Please bring:
👉 Signs (Use slogans from chant or make your own)
👉 Bullhorns
👉 Flags

“We are One Standing Together. This is a We Are Castle Rock Rally, not a Trump rally. American flags, Colorado flags, and ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ flags. The ‘Rally’ demonstrates a protest of a peaceful nature. “Dont Tread On Me, Again”

We need this rally to demonstrate our resistance to the shutdowns (any restriction is a shutdown) but in a responsible way. News Channels will be alerted and they will come!”
